Roger Pitts is a dynamic teacher and performer. He has a degree from the Conservatory of Music at UMKC, a 6 state touring region, and was selected to be a Kennedy Center Teaching Artist. His album “Seven Wonders” received an award for song writing from the Kansas Arts Commission.
Roger has had endorsements with 5 different guitar companies (Ibanez, Schecter, Parker Fly, Alvarez, Dean), as well as Korg Keyboards. He received a brand new 8-string guitar from the president of Schecter Guitars, after seeing him performing on YouTube . . . and he is currently with Ibanez Guitars . . .
. . . and he LOVES to teach guitar! Whether you’re a beginner or more advanced player, you’ll improve rapidly! Styles include: Rock, Blues, Jazz, Classical, Country, Folk, both fingerstyle and pick . . . . . . and he LOVES to teach piano! Roger has appeared on many recordings and performances as a piano/keyboard player. He has provided sound tracks for award-winning ad campaigns, performed at jazz festivals, and has served on staff and as a sub-musician for many churches. Playing and teaching piano is as natural as guitar. (Some people know him as a guitarist, and some as a keyboardist . . . and it has sometimes created some confusion, ha!).
The lessons are structured so that the first half of the lesson covers technique, music theory as it applies to the instrument, ear-training, and sight-reading (all the things you need to know!) – and the second half of the lesson focuses on the songs and styles that interest you the most.
Whether you’re planning to go into music as a career or just want to be able to play a few of your favorite songs, Roger has the experience and knowledge to help you improve fast and avoid common mistakes . . . and he makes it fun!
